Butterfly AI

Artificial intelligence (AI) makes butterfly identification more accessible by using machine learning models trained on photos of different butterfly species. At the Butterfly Garden, visitors can take a photo of a butterfly, and the AI system analyzes features such as color patterns and wing shapes to match the image with known species in our database. This process enables quick and accurate identification, helping both experts and the public learn about local butterflies. Fixed cameras in the garden will collect images for the AI to process, expanding the data pool and supporting biodiversity monitoring. Select a butterfly photo, scan the QR code, and the system will identify the species automatically — making nature observation is fun, interactive and educational!

The current version of our butterfly AI system is capable of identifying 6 butterfly species as part of the initial trial phase. Future updates will expand the system to recognize a wider range of butterfly species as more image data becomes available and the model is refined.
